Welcome to our New Auction House

Athletes are constantly being asked for their autographs. Little do they know that their signatures reveal a lot about their personalities.

We one of the leading experts on handwriting analysis in the nation, examined the autographs of some prominent sports celebrities.

Jordan: A perfectionist who worries a lot.

Michael Jordan is known as one of the most dominating and supremel confident athletes in sports history.

But what does Jordan's signature say about his personality? Handwriting expert analyzed MJ's autograph and here is what it says about the NBA legend.

Here's what's found:

General notes: Jordan's round fluid stroke in his writing indicates fluidity of thought and movement.

The loop at the bottom of the "M" is a "worry loop." It shows he spends time worrying about things that often never happen.

The downhill slant of the "M" indicates diplomacy.

The aggressive hooks on the bottom of the "M" and "J" -- plus the long downstrokes -- indicate determination and physical endurance.

The straight baseline indicates perfectionism. He wants structure and follows habits. He is very intolerant of sloppiness.

A-Rod: Confident, yet sensitive to criticism.

It's the signature that went on the bottom of the richest contract in professional sports history.

Alex Rodriguez, 25, stands to make a whopping $252 million over the next 10 years. We analyzed A-Rod's signature and this is what it says about the new Texas Rangers shortstop.

Here's what's found:

General notes: Rodriguez uses large capital letters -- very similar to the signature of Michael Jordan. His signature indicates that he is ethical, emotionally normal and very motivated by approval.

The large capital "A" and "R" indicate a person with a healthy ego, but not necessarily an arrogant one.

The clean "o" reveals a person who is blunt, honest and candid.

The large loop in the stem of the "d" indicates that Rodriguez is extremely sensitive to criticism. Approval definitely is highest motivation.

The figure-8 shape of the "g" indicates fluidity of thought and movement. This is very typical of finesse athletes, writers and people who are good speakers.

The closed "e" shows a person who doesn't listen well and is a bit close-minded.

The large loop in the "z" indicates a person with a large imagination -- a good storyteller.

Tyson: Resentment going back to childhood.

Mike Tyson was a dominating heavyweight champion. Of course, he's also a convicted rapist who once bit another fighter in the ring and has threatened to eat the children of yet another fighter.

So, what does Tyson's signature say about his menacing personality? We analyzed Iron Mike's autograph and this is what it reveals.

Here's what's found:

General notes: This signature reveals an angry, aggressive and egotistical person. The strokes are very tall and indicate a person who is curious about religion and the metaphysical.

The straight up-and-down motion in the "M" indicates an impatient and fast mind.

The signature starts with an angular beginning, but becomes more rigid and drifts further below the baseline. This indicates a lot of resentment in his past, likely extending back to childhood.

Woods: Very concerned about his reputation.

Tiger Woods was arguably the most dominant athlete of 2000.

But what does Woods' signature say about his personality? We analyzed Woods' autograph and this is what it says about golf's all-time leading money-winner.

Here's what's found:

General notes: Woods' signature indicates that he is clearly the best lover in this group of athletes. It also shows that he is very passionate and honest.

The elegant fluidity of movement at the base of the "g" is typical of smooth talkers, great dancers and good writers.

The second stroke of the "W" is higher than the first. This indicates a slight fear of ridicule. He's very self conscious and concerned about his reputation.

The tall "d" indicates that his public image is very important to him.

The strong downstroke in the "s" in Woods shows both physical and mental determination.

DiMaggio: A desire for both attention and sex.

Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio is one of the most interesting personalities in sports history, especially considering recent revelations in a new book about the Yankee Clipper.

So, what does DiMaggio's signature say about his complex personality? We analyzed Joe D's autograph and this is what it reveals about the Hall of Fame outfielder.

Here's what's found:

General notes: DiMaggio's signature slants to the right, which indicates that he is implusive, passionate and tends to be subject to manic highs and lows. When he was "on," he was a huge asset. But when he wasn't, he was probably prone to depression.

The high ending stroke on the "e" indicates a desire for attention.

Similar to the signature of Michael Jordan, DiMaggio has a "worry loop" in his "M." This shows that he often worried about things that never happened.

The convoluted "a" reveals a fear of telling the whole truth. It's a sign of a person who's exceedingly diplomatic and willing to save face.

The long loops in the "g" show a strong and healthy sex drive. This is very common in the signature of athletes and politicians.

Gretzky: Optimistic but wary of trusting others.

They don't call him The Great One for nothing. Wayne Gretzky is known for his cool confidence and ability to always deliver.

But what does Gretzky's signature say about his personality? We analyzed Gretzky's autograph and this is what it says about the NHL legend.

Here's what's found:

General notes: The uphill slant of Gretzky's writing indicates that he is a very optimistic person.

The narrow "y" indicates that Gretzky is a very socially selective person. He is very careful about whom he trusts.

The points in the "G" show that he is philosophically and spiritually curious.

The long downstroke on the "y" indicates determination and physical endurance. This is one of the most common threads among the signatures of athletes. You wouldn't see that downstroke from a lot of stay-at-home moms.

Rodman: Obnoxious with a desire to be noticed.

Dennis Rodman is one of the most complex personalities the sports world has ever seen.

So, what does Rodman's signature say about his true persona? We analyzed the Worm's autograph and this is what it reveals about the former NBA rebounding machine.

Here's what's found:

General notes: This handwriting is about eight inches in height. That large size indicates a person who is obnoxious. The uphill slant also indicates optimism.

This very long downstroke in the "R" in a spot where the downstroke shouldn't be  indicates strong sexual desires and unequalled determination.

The underline shows a need to be recognized and a tendency toward self reliance.

  The "d" brace indicates stubbornness.

The tall "d" also indicates vanity and pride.

The pointy ending is a sign of a sarcastic person.

King: Flexible, aggressive and a tad bit mean.

Only in America could a man with Don King's pomp, pageantry and predation become so powerful.

But what does King's signature really say about his personality? We analyzed King's autograph and this is what it reveals about the boxing promoter.

Here's what's found:

General notes: The bouncing baseline indicates a person who is very flexible in nature and a bit clumsy.

There's no loop in the "o," which indicates that he is blunt and tells it like it is.

The little v-shape at the bottom of the "K" reveals an aggressive nature.

His signature is very heavy on the "K" and that shows determination, strength and willpower.

The hard upstroke at the beginning of the "i" indicates resentment from childhood.

The "i" dot is a dash with a strong downstroke. This shows irritation at other people, sarcasm and meanness.

Simpson: Not the handwriting of a killer.

He won the Heisman Trophy and was the first player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season. But most people will forever associate O.J. Simpson with a much-publicized double-murder trial.

So, what does Simpson's signature say about his personality? We analyzed Simpson's autograph and tell us what it reveals about the NFL Hall of Famer.

Here's what's found:

General notes: I would guess that this is an autograph from Simpson before the double-murder trial. This signature is not angry or tempermental. The round shapes indicate a person who is kind. This certainly doesn't indicate a person who is prone to violence, aggression or lying. This is not the handwriting of a killer.

The big loop in the "O" reveals a person who is very secretive and evasive.

The "i" shows a person who is direct and gets to the point.

The circle dot for the "i" indicates a desire to be noticed.

The shaky humps in the "m" and "n" are not formed with precision. This usually indicates a low level of education and a person who doesn't have a high level of mental processing.

The underline below the signature indicates confidence, leadership and self reliance. Because the underline slants downhill, it indicates dominance.

The long string on the end of the "n" indicates caution.

Knight: Plenty of anger immediately apparent.

The perception of Bob Knight is one of an arrogant person with a nasty temper.

But what does Knight's signature really say about his personality? We analyzed Knight's autograph and tell us what it says about the former Indiana coach.

Here's what's found:

General notes: This is the signature of a stubborn, passionate and very angry person. It's one of the most angry signatures I've ever seen. It also shows that he is very dominating and critical.

The loop at the base of the "B" indicates a person who gives good speeches and has good fluidity of thought. It also shows a desire for responsibility.

The line in the "K" that extends back into his first name indicates more anger and resentment from his past. The longer that line, the further back the resentment goes -- perhaps as far back as his childhood.

The extended length of the bottom of the "K" shows good determination.

The point in the "n" indicates a fast thinker with a brilliant, lightning-fast mind. He's also very impulsive. The size of the "g" shows he has a large imagination and is a good storyteller.

The triangle at the base of the "g" indicates anger related to his sexual desire and religious upbringing. He is a bit curious and experimental.

The "t" brace is a sign of stubbornness.

Kournikova: Impulsive and emotionally driven

Anna Kournikova hasn't won one singles tournament, but she still gets as much attention as any other player on the WTA tour.

So, what does Kournikova's signature say about her personality? We analyzed her autograph and tell us what it reveals.

Here's what's found:

General notes: This signature reveals a person who is impulsive and emotionally driven. In case you're wondering -- and I'm sure you are -- you can't tell about Kournikova's sex drive because there is no "y" or "g" in her name. The upward slant in her name indicates an optimistic attitude. This is the handwriting of a person who always looks on the bright side of life.

The pointy humps in the "n" indicates a sharp, quick mind that is both impatient and very curious.

Editor's Note: Here are a few quick guidelines from SSAuthenticators about analyzing signatures:

Because handwriting is actually brain writing, our personality is shown to the world every time we write. As an expert handwriting analyst, I want to see as many letters of the alphabet and as much handwriting as possible. Because I am evaluating unconscious movements revealed by a trail of ink, the more the better. Seriously, you would never judge a young quarterback by just one snap. Likewise, when looking at handwriting, it is always more accurate to see a wide spectrum of writing.

Signatures are especially unique when penned by celebrity athletes. Not only are they asked for their signatures dozens of times a day, but they are often asked to sign on various surfaces such as a basketball, baseball or T-shirt. Therefore, I am forced to give them the benefit of the doubt if some random "serial killer" pen stroke appears in only one sample of their writing.

Another common thread among celebrity athletes is the speed and size of their signature. Most athletes sign their names fast because they tend to be in a hurry when approached for a signature. This speed translates to sloppy writing.

The larger the size of the signature indicates the size of the ego. And it is no surprise that superstars have big egos.
